Scientific bodies from around the world have concluded that there are no food safety issues that are unique to GM technology and none have so far been detected in existing GM food products. Still, the potential occurrence of undesirable “unintended effects” or “unexpected effects” has been pointed out as a possible safety concern with respect to the production of food using GE technology.
