Contributing to the goal of enhancing “resilience of livelihoods and production systems to climate variability and other related risks,” as stated in the Malabo Declaration; this document presents basic concepts, country experiences and guidelines to agriculture and food insecurity risk management. The document begins with a background to agriculture and food insecurity risk management on the continent. This is followed by an outline of various types of agricultural risks and tools for risk management with regards to market prices and production. A review of agricultural risk management in different parts of the world is also provided.  The document concludes with guidelines for integrating risk management and resilience building programmes into National Agriculture and Food Security Investment Plans (NAFSIPs) as part of CAADP.
