The NEPAD Agency in partnership with the African Academy of Science, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, DFID and Welcome Trust, in February 2016, launched a funding facility – the Grand Challenges Africa (GCA). The GCA, launched under the Alliance for Accelerating Excellence in Sciences in Africa, is a competitive grant scheme that will make available 2.0 Million USD for research programs that address health challenges of Africa.

Building on the AU and the RECs strategies on Industrialization, the NEPAD Agency partnered-up with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) of South Africa to develop an operational framework that will guide countries to mainstream industrialization into their national priorities and associated planning and budgeting instruments.
