This paper explores the various ways of advancing landscape governance in Africa. It begins with a review of the experiences from a few African countries where sustainable landscape governance systems have been implemented. These examples present outcomes of landscape governance and policies which have integrated community-based initiatives and natural resources management at the local level. The paper concludes with lessons learnt and recommended strategies to advance landscape governance in Africa.
