Media Advisory: 7th PIDA Week

What: The African Union Development Agency-NEPAD (AUDA-NEPAD) invites the media to the 7th PIDA Week under the theme “Putting Africa on a firm footing for recovery, growth, and resilience through Infrastructure”

When:  28 February – 4 March 2022 

Opening Ceremony 13:30 – 15:00. Press Briefing will take place immediately after the opening ceremony 

Where: Hybrid (physical and virtual) event in Nairobi, Kenya (Kenyatta International Convention Center) 

WhoSpeakers at the conference will include the President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E Uhuru Kenyatta, CEO of AUDA-NEPAD Dr Ibrahim Mayaki, AU Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy , Dr Amani Abou-Zeid,  and various infrastructure experts and PIDA partners.

Background:

Since the first PIDA week held in Abidjan, Cote d’ Ivoire in 2015, PIDA Week has progressed into a key forum for accelerating infrastructure implementation in Africa, but also as a link of infrastructure to the key themes of development of regional integration, transformative economic growth and job creation.

PIDA Week has evolved and grown to become the flagship advocacy and marketing event for the PIDA programme and specifically projects in need of financing. The format of the event provides an opportunity to engage and exchange information on PIDA and infrastructure development in general. 

Format:

The 7th PIDA Week 2022will be a hybrid (virtual and physical) event which will feature different sessions ranging from the Continental Business Network breakfast session to sessions on the African Continental Free Trade Area, Cybersecurity, the African Single Electricity Market, PIDA Jobs Outlook, Gender-responsive financing for post-COVID-19 recovery efforts and many more. Site visits to the LAPSSET Corridor Program Lamu Port, ICT parks in Konza Techno city and the Nairobi Expressway will also be undertaken to take stock of the progress made.

Media representatives are invited to cover the opening ceremony and the press briefing on the 28th February and the closing session on the 2nd March at the Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC)
