Support was provided to lift a ban on fish export caused, inter-alia, by a weak fish sanitary control system. 

Laboratories of the National Office of Sanitary Control were equipped, aimed at boosting the country’s export of fish into high-value markets. In addition, 12 laboratory technicians were trained, and a manual of procedures on the sanitary control of fish and fisheries products and services developed.

The Governance Working Group facilitated the “Etats Généraux de la Pêche” (High Level Stakeholder Consultations) as an input into finalising the strategic plan for the fisheries sector and the investment plan.

Technical support is ongoing in the development of the Fisheries Strategic Development Plan, Marine Fisheries Research Plan, Fisheries Investment Plan, and on a study on Value Chain to Decipher Bottlenecks in Trade.
