Theme: The Role of KAIZEN in Promoting Innovation, Digital Transitions and Economic Development

The partnership between AUDA-NEPAD and JICA is a cornerstone for accelerating Africa's industrialization, with the Africa Kaizen Initiative playing a pivotal role. Launched in 2017, this initiative spans 16 countries and 21 organizations, all focused on promoting the Kaizen philosophy of continuous improvement. By 2027, the initiative aims to expand to 23 countries, strengthening Centers of Excellence to further disseminate Kaizen methodologies and enhance competitiveness across the continent. This initiative aligns closely with the goals of Agenda 2063, particularly its vision of inclusive growth and sustainable development.

The adoption of Kaizen across Africa is not limited to traditional methods; it now incorporates innovative approaches like digital Kaizen, which leverages technological advancements to optimize processes. This evolution is crucial as the continent faces the challenges and opportunities of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The integration of new technologies into manufacturing is essential for upgrading industries and ensuring that Africa remains competitive in a rapidly changing global landscape. Digital Kaizen, in particular, offers a powerful tool for enhancing productivity and fostering innovation within SMEs and other enterprises.

The commitment to Kaizen and its alignment with Agenda 2063 underscores Africa's broader ambitions for prosperity and sustainable growth.
