The AIS is an Africa-wide and home grown initiative aimed at harnessing the innovation potential of the continent. It aims to mobilize the people and, especially those with the ‘power to act’, including investors, the people with the ideas, the policy makers, the researchers and academics, the business community, the youth, as well as innovators and thinkers into a coalition for collective action to promote and build an enabling environment for innovation in Africa. The goal is to engage as many people as possible in order to build a broad constituency in support of innovation in Africa.
The 2018 AGRF will take stock, evaluate actions, and learn from compelling evidence across the continent, presented by many of the most inspiring leaders turning agriculture into thriving enterprises. These leadership will include farmers, public sector thought leaders, private sector champions and agripreneurs, and many others.
The 27th African Union Summit is scheduled to take place from 10-18 July 2016, in Kigali, Rwanda.
The theme of the Summit is: “2016: African Year of Human Rights with particular focus on the Rights of Women”
Specific dates for the meetings of the different AU organs and decision-making bodies during the Summit will be as follows:
10-12 July 2016: 32nd Ordinary Session of the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC)
To improve Africa’s investment attractiveness and address the transport and logistics agenda, Africa will need to pursue a deeper engagement with the private sector on developing transport and logistics projects. To this end, the NEPAD Agency is launching a transport and logistics initiative called MoveAfrica.
