This paper addresses the need to develop capacities for strengthening integrated management of rural landscapes in Africa. It presents findings from studies investigating capacity development progress in the context of integrated landscape management. Three priority capacity development action steps have been proposed; which will potentially facilitate an accelerated process in advancing initiatives related to integrated landscape management in Africa.
