Contrary to the increase in global demand for agricultural products, risks associated with the management of land and water resources are threatening the security of agricultural production in Africa. As production declines, both small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and large businesses are affected to varying degrees. This paper aims to promote the participation of the private sector in integrated landscape initiatives (ILIs) in Africa. It summarises the major ILIs with private sector involvement, as identified in the 2013 Landscapes for People, Food and Nature Initiative study. It also provides additional initiatives which can attract business to engage in integrated landscape management (ILM).
