As APRM marks its tenth anniversary since it was established, Mozambique’s former President Joachim Chissano a founding member of the APRM, has said that it is time to take critical stock of the impact of the governance measurement instrument in Africa.
In a statement read on behalf of Dr Jean Ping, the Chairperson of the AUC, NEPAD’s CEO Dr Ibrahim Mayaki, called on the Pan African Parliament to encourage member states to sign the African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance.
This event took place as part of various activities planned under the ongoing African Union (AU) - Make Peace Happen Campaign and pursuant to a Decision of the Assembly adopted in January 2011 institutionalizing Peace Day.
Dr. Mayaki will co-chair the main session of the High-Level Meeting on Mobilising Private Sector Investments in African Agriculture. On Wednesday he will also feature on CNBC Africa's 'Beyond Markets' show with Lerato Mbele.
This Mission is led by Barrister Akere Muna, appointed to supervise the review of this West African countries in the areas of Democracy and Political Governance, Economic Governance and Management, Socio-economic Development and Corporate Governance.
