Young Africa Botswana runs an online competition: "Art in the Time of Corona"
The COVID-19 crisis has challenged usual work patterns, but Young Africa Botswana turned this crisis into an opportunity to continue improving the perception of TVET.
As people cling to social media for information, hope and guidance, YAB adapted their work to make their current campaign “Making TVET cool” more popular and to ensure that stakeholders realize the necessity of TVET in rebuilding the economy post-corona. As one of the activities, 11th of May, YAB launched an online competition via the Making TVET Cool Facebook page titled "Art in the Time of Corona". In this competition, YAB asked young people to a poem or make a painting inspired by this question: "Which skills or professions will be needed to rebuild the country and the economy after corona?". The goal of this competition was to stimulate the youth to think about the future, employment and TVET.
A number of young people have submitted their entries and 32 of these have been selected and published. Furthermore, a young artist, Opiyo Lentswe Been won the competition and was paid to create two flyers for the Making TVET cool campaign.
