NEPAD establishes strong ties with the International Organisation of Francophonie.

NEPAD CEO Dr Ibrahim Mayaki this week held talks with the Secretary General of the International Organisation of Francophonie (OIF), Mr Abdou Diouf, in Paris, where they discussed the establishment of a partnership between NEPAD and the OIF. The partnership will involve collaboration in areas of development and economic strategies as well as governance issues in Africa.

Mr Diouf served as the second President of Senegal from 1981 to 2000. He assured Dr Mayaki of his organisation’s support in order to enable NEPAD  achieve the goals that have been set since its inception and to be a driving force of African Unity.

They also discussed issues of regional integration, the situation in the Sahel, food security problems and strengthening African agriculture and the response of different partners with the needs expressed by NEPAD.
