NEPAD engages the youth

In an effort to better know NEPAD and NEPAD Programmes, 3rd year students of the International Relations course at The University of the Witwatersrand, popularly known as Wits University toured the NEPAD Agency today.

This is an opportunity for us to get to know what is NEPAD and how it has impacted the lives of Africans out there” said Ms Mmabatho Mokoena.

During the visit, NEPAD staff made presentations on the progress being made in the implementation and financing of NEPAD Programmes and Projects, namely the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA) and Education and Training.

At the dawn of the 21st century, NEPAD was ushered in as the answer to developmental challenges of Africa” these were the words of Dr Tambi, head of Transport at NEPAD whilst explaining the purpose of NEPAD.

Welcome remarks and word of thanks were delivered by Dr. Tambi who also encouraged the students to think of themselves as part of NEPAD as the future of Africa lies in the hands of African Youths.
