NEPAD Communications and Project staff received intensive photography training on Wednesday, by veteran photo journalist Karen Sandison. Karen is Picture Editor for The Star Newspaper Group in Johannesburg.

The training, which took place at the NEPAD Agency, was on the basics of photography and how to use picture to tell the NEPAD story. Karen Sandison, who has worked for the Star Newspaper for 25 years, led the team into practical exercises on various artistic and creative forms of taking and using  picture.

They were taught why photographs and pictures are an important part of communication.

“You need to see beyond what everyone sees in order to take an interesting picture” said Mrs Sandison.

They were also shown techniques on how to handle cameras; the different features of a camera, how to use lighting and how to best to tell the NEPAD story through pictures.
