Annual Ambassadors and Executives Gala Dinner 2011

2011 marks the 10th anniversary of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) as the strategy and framework for achieving socio- economic development in Africa. Over the last decade, there has been much activity and increased momentum on the focus and implementation of NEPAD priority programmes and projects. NEPAD has been formally integrated into the structures and processes of the African Union with a sharper focus on programmes and projects development and implementation in the new NEPAD Planning and Coordination Agency (NEPAD Agency).

As a “Chamber of business for development”, the NBF is Africa’s leading private sector membership body connecting businesses to the public sector, and implementing innovative and sustainable projects in partnership with civil society in support of NEPAD Agency and its key programme areas. In supporting African economic development and growth, NBF’s key focus areas mirror the NEPAD Planning and Coordination Agency’s (NEPAD Agency) development themes of agriculture and food security; climate change and natural resources management; economic and corporate governance; human development and capacity building; and regional integration and infrastructure.  The NEPAD Business Foundation works in five focus areas by implementing innovative projects, providing a platform for businesses to interact with the public sector on policy and project issues, and ensuring the private sector is involved in continent-wide policy formulation in areas that will optimise Africa’s development.

The NEPAD Business Foundation and the NEPAD Agency invite you to the 2011 Ambassadors and Executives Gala dinner, to commemorate the NEPAD Agency’s 10th anniversary, reflect on NEPAD’s future and exchange concepts on the role that the private sector will be playing in order to achieve African economic development vis-à-vis Africa’s opportunities.

The Gala Dinner, which has kindly been sponsored by ABSA for the second year, will afford the opportunity for high-level interactions between members of the diplomatic corps, business executives, NEPAD Agency principals, stakeholders and the NEPAD Business Foundation.

Date:  Wednesday 19 October 2011
Time:  18:00 for 18:30 (prompt starting time and seating)
Venue:  Gallagher Convention Centre, Ball Room , Midrand

The dinner will take the form of a working supper with a panel discussion on ‘The role of effective partnerships in the public and private sectors towards achieving sustainable economic development faced with changing leadership dynamics in Africa ’.
