SPEAKER:
imageDr. Ibrahim Assane Mayaki, Chief Executive Officer of the NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency (NPCA)

Dr. Mayaki was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of NPCA in 2009. Previously known as the New Partnerships for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) Secretariat, NPCA is headquartered in Midrand, South Africa and functions as the planning and coordinating
body of the African Union. Before joining NPCA, Dr. Mayaki served from 2004 to 2008 as Executive Director of the Rural Hub, an organization that supports rural development in West and Central Africa.  From 2000 to 2004, Dr. Mayaki was a guest professor at the University of Paris XI, where he also led research at the Research Centre on Europe and the Contemporary World. From 1996 to 2000, he served in a number of government positions in Niger, including serving as Minister for African Integration and Cooperation, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Prime Minister. In 2000, he also set up the Analysis Centre for Public Policy. He has also held academic positions in Niger and Venezuela. Dr. Mayaki holds a Master’s degree from the National School of Public Administration, Québec, Canada, and a PhD in Administrative Sciences from the University of Paris.
