SANBio visited Malawi on a mission to present the Business Plan for 2013-18, and also to familiarise itself with the national priorities in Science Engineering and Technology, with the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Dr MacPhail Magwira.
The PS expressed government appreciation of the role NEPAD is playing in promoting STI in the country and the region, and ensuring that STI brings development and improved livelihoods. He emphasized that Malawi takes Science and Technology seriously as it realises that STI is a necessity for the development of the country. Dr Magwira also encouraged the networks to share ideas, not to “reinvent the wheel” but rather replicate successes and good practise from the region and get products to the users as quickly as possible.
