National Agriculture Investment Plan: NEPAD supported Burundi by conducting a technical review of its NAIP from the 22 – 31 August 2011

Capacity Building: Burundi received technical support in preparation for the Agriculture Public Expenditure Review.

Business: Burundi’s first CAADP Business Meeting was held on 14 - 15 March 2012.

Funding: Burundi received funding from the Global Agriculture and Food Security Programme (GAFSP) to the tune of USD 30 million

Key Results
Burundi signed the CAADP Compact in 2009 committing to prioritise agricultural development and transformation
Upon receipt of technical support in the formulation of its National Agriculture Investment Plan (NAIP), a technical review of its NAIP was conducted 22 – 31 August 2011. Burundi also received technical support in preparation of its Agriculture Public Expenditure Review and integration of the Review findings into Agriculture Joint Sector Review processes
The CAADP Biennial Review Report results presented at the AU Summit in January 2018 reflected 100% for CAADP process completion and for inclusive institutionalised mechanisms for mutual accountability and peer review. The review also indicated that 70% of the youth in Burundi engaged in new job opportunities in agriculture value chains, 30% of farm, pastoral, and fisher households were found to be resilient to climate and weather related shocks. Lastly, 7% of total agricultural research spending was a share of the agriculture GDP
