Key Results
Phase 3 of Science Technology and Innovation Indicators started in 2014 with the target of increasing number of countries with adequate capacity to collect and analyze such indicators from 35 in 2014 to at least 50 by 2017. The number of countries where capacity has been developed now stands on-site training sessions were held in two countries, namely The Gambia and Seychelles
14 officials were trained on R&D and Innovation data collection methodology for STI surveys. Draft National STI Policy of Seychelles was also reviewed with support of the NEPAD Agency
The lessons learnt from drafting African Innovation Outlook 3 (AIO-3) led to the modification of the national R&D and Innovation survey instruments. Seychelles is among the countries that have expressed interest to pilot the modified instruments
Seychelles deployed their first national R&D and Innovation survey helping the country to assess the use and impact of domestic R&D activities
10 Countries with Full Databases on the Status of Innovation focused on product and process innovations, and with the organizational and marketing innovations partially treated. The countries are Angola, Cape Verde, Egypt, Ethiopia, Namibia, Swaziland, Lesotho, Kenya, Uganda and Seychelles
The Status of R&D Investments as a Proportion of GDP Analysed in 10 Countries (Botswana, Ethiopia, Gabon, Mali, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland and Uganda)
Developed a full database on the status of innovation in Seychelles focused on product and process innovations, and with the organisational and marketing innovations partially treated
Analysed the status of Research &Development (R&D) Investments as a Proportion of GDP in Seychelles, focused on Business, Government, Higher Education and Private Non-Profit sectors of the economy
On-site training sessions were held in 2016 in The Gambia and Seychelles
42 officials (27 women and 15 men) were trained in both R&D and Innovation data collection methodology for STI surveys
