Project Objectives
The project is guided by three (3) project development objectives:
-
Improve coverage and quality of key TB control and occupational lung disease services in targeted geographic areas of the participating countries.
-
Strengthen regional capacity to manage the burden of TB and occupational diseases

Strengthen countrylevel and cross-border preparedness and response to disease outbreaks.
Progress on the Project Development Objectives is monitored using Project Outcome Indicators as follows:
-
TB Case notification in target geographic areas (number)
-
TB treatment success rate in target geographic areas: (i) new and (ii) relapse TB cases (percentage)
-
TB cases identified among TB vulnerable population in target geographic areas (number)
-
Project-supported laboratories compliant with regionally harmonised standard operating procedures for surveillance of MDR-TB (number)
-
Proportion of pulmonary TB cases that are Bacteriologically confirmed
-
Number of countries with multi hazard preparedness plans developed
-
Number of miners and ex-miners screened for occupational lung diseases
