AU-3S Impact in Ghana

-
Ghana is one of the first countries involved in the AU-3S programme during the pilot phase, notably as it acts as the Chair of the African Vaccine Regulatory Forum (AVAREF) and as it has strong safety surveillance systems (being rated Maturity Level 3 (ML3) by WHO). The AU-3S team engages primarily with representatives from The Ghana Food and Drugs Authority, working with Mrs Delese Mimi Darko (CEO) and her team, as well as with individuals from the national EPI. Here’s a glimpse into what select individuals from Ghana have had to say about the AU-3S programme:
-
“AU-3S allows for collaboration of African countries on safety issues and builds confidence” – Mimi Darko, CEO of Ghana FDA
-
“Safety surveillance, during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond, is critical to all NRAs – it should be the first step into broader regulatory harmonisation” – Mimi Darko, CEO of Ghana FDA
