AUDA-NEPAD and Humana People to People Announce Launch of Africa Skills Revolution Competition

The African Union Development Agency-NEPAD (AUDA-NEPAD) in collaboration with Humana People to People, announced today at the 2024 ATUPA Conference in Naivasha, Kenya, the launch of the Africa Skills Revolution Competition. This initiative seeks to spotlight the achievements and success stories of young Africans who have leveraged their Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to build impactful careers and contribute to socio-economic development across the African continent.

Invitation to TVET Graduates: Share Your Journey

The Competition is aimed atTVET graduates aged 16 to 35 who have an inspiring career journey to share.. The Africa Skills Revolution Competition offers an opportunity to celebrate the positive impact that TVET has had on the lives of African youth and to inspire others to pursue similar paths. Whether theyare in construction, healthcare, engineering, or another field, this is their chance to shine. By sharing their stories, they will help shift perceptions about TVET and demonstrate the vast potential of Africa’s youth.

About the Competition

The Africa Skills Revolution Competition is designed to recognize the personal achievements and career advancements of TVET graduates across Africa. We aim to showcase how youthskills are making a difference in their communities and contributing to the growth and development of the continent. This competition provides a platform for them to share your experiences, inspire others, and help change the narrative around TVET.

Prizes and Opportunities

Winners of the competition will be awarded USD 1,500 to further enhance their skills, advance their careers, or support entrepreneurial ventures. In their submission, we encourage them to describe how they intend to use the prize money to achieve their professional goals or business objectives.

Additionally, some winners will be offered the exclusive opportunity to attend WorldSkills Africa 2025, where they can further showcase their skills and demonstrate how this prize has contributed to their growth.

Submission Process and Key Dates

1. Online Application Submission: All applications must be submitted in English, Portuguese, or French through the online form provided. The deadline for submission is September 26th, 23:59 (GMT+3).

2. Shortlist Announcement: Shortlisted candidates will be announced via email on October 4th. These candidates will be required to submit a 2-minute video showcasing their skills and success stories by October 10th, 23:59 (GMT+3).

3. Final Winners Announcement: The final winners will be announced during the Awards Ceremony at Africa Skills Week in Accra, Ghana, on October 14th.
