The NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency invites applicants who are citizens of African Union Member States for the post of Senior Programme Office, Climate Smart Agriculture.

Under the supervision of the Programme Manager, Natural Resource Governance, the Officer will be responsible for providing technical and strategical support to the NEPAD CAADP Programme in the area of Climate Change Adaptation for a better mainstreaming of climate smart and biodiversity policies in the agricultural sector and implementation on national level. The Officer will in the context of CAADP and the the African Union Vision 25X25 which aims at supporting at least 25 million farm households in practicing CSA by 2025 provide technical support to the attainment of this vision.

Required Skills and Competencies

  1. Excellent Technical knowledge of Agriculture, Climate Change and Environment, policies and strategies especially in relation to Africa
  1. Strong planning, analytical, and organisational skills, with particular emphasis on investment planning.
  2. Proven experience in program evaluation and knowledge sharing.
  3. Familiarity with NEPAD, Environment Action Plan, CAADP Programmes initiatives.
  4. Excellent written and oral communications and interpersonal skills.
  5. Sound analytical skills, creative thinking and problem solving skills.
  6. Excellent strategic visioning, planning, implementation, monitoring & evaluation and reporting skills.
  7. High level of integrity and accountability, flexible approaches to work coupled with enthusiasm, commitment and energetic.
  8. Ability to perform multiple tasks and work under pressure with a wide range of individuals and institutions.
  9. Good organisation, planning and time management skills.
  10. High level of accuracy, attention to detail and thoroughness.
  11. Maintain confidentiality at the highest level at all times.
  12. Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-national environment.

Education and Experience:

Candidates must have a Master’s degree in Agriculture, Environmental management/governance, Climate Change, Natural Resource Management or any other related field with a minimum five (5) years of post-qualification experience in public sector institutions, non-governmental or similar organizations nationally, regionally and / or internationally

Remuneration: Indicative basic salary of US$39,603.00 per annum plus other entitlements e.g. Post Adjustment (57% of basic salary), Housing allowance ($21,196.80 per annum), gratuity (15% of gross salary), medical aid and life and accident insurance in conformity with the rules and procedures applicable to internationally recruited staff of the African Union
