The African Union Commission (AUC) and NEPAD Agency with the support of the World Health Organization (WHO) is organising the 3rd series of consultations to deliberate on the Draft Treaty for the establishment of the African Medicines Agency (AMA) with legal and regulatory experts from all AU Member States. The consultative meeting is scheduled to take place in Tunis, Tunisia from 12 – 14 July 2017.

The 3rd consultation is a follow up on the success of the 1st and 2nd round of stakeholder consultations to deliberate on the establishment of the AMA which were held in Johannesburg, South Africa in February 2017 and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in March 2017 respectively. These consultations are part of the implementation of the 'Luanda Commitment AUC/WHO/2014/Doc.2 on African Medicines Agency: Setting Milestones towards its Establishment' and to subsequent Executive Council Decision EX.CL/DEC.857 (XXVI) on the African Ministers of Health Ministers Jointly Convened by AUC and WHO Doc.EX.CU872 (XXVI) of 2015.
